Biomechanical Assessments
Your feet are vital to your everyday life. With 26 bones, 38 muscles, and numerous ligaments and tendons, they work in harmony every day to keep us balanced, on the move and doing the things we love. In order to ensure that we can continue to do the things we love every day, its essential to take care of our feet. This is where a biomechanical assessment comes in.
Even something as wonderful as our feet can use a little help now and again. Here at The Foot Lab Glossop, our HCPC registered podiatrists are dedicated to providing you with the best care possible, and that includes using a biomechanical assessment to diagnose and help treat your foot pain.
Why would you need a Biomechanical Assessment?
A biomechanics assessment is an in-depth investigation into your lower limb functions. It looks for any abnormalities that might be causing pain or discomfort in your feet, knees or ankles.
The main reason to have a biomechanical assessment is because you are experiencing pain in your lower limbs, and that pain is impacting your day-to-day life. Using a biomechanical assessment, a podiatrist will be able to diagnose the cause of the foot pain and work with you to create a treatment method for curing that pain. As well as preventative methods you can take to ensure that pain doesn't return. Some of these treatments could include:
Insoles or orthotics for your shoes
Exercises to increase mobility
Advice on the best footwear for your gait pattern
When you are experiencing foot pain, it could be caused by several different factors. High arches, limb length discrepancy, an abnormal gait, a sports injury or even poorly fitting shoes can all be contributing factors to the pain in your foot. A biomechanical assessment could be used to help diagnose and treat these issues and more. If you are suffering from pain in your lower limb and just can not figure out why, contact us today or book an appointment online, our expertly trained podiatrists will be happy to help you diagnose and treat the issues that you are facing.
